Believe it or not, this wedge-shaped Korean barbecue joint was designed to resemble the scene in Edward Hopper’s famous painting Nighthawks – with stools arranged around a central, dark wood-panelled counter. One visible departure, however, is the presence of hotplates where sizzling Korean ‘fast food’ is rustled up inches from your face. Beef bulgogi is the flagship dish (marinated in ginger, soy, garlic & onion sauce & served with grilled beansprouts), but there are also ‘ccochi’ BBQ skewers & an assortment of appetisers including guk (Korean sizzling soup) & jeon (savoury pancakes) to warm you up before the main event. A downstairs hideaway with colourfully patterned couches caters for those who’d sooner bide their time, & the takeaway menu does brisk business throughout the day. More outlets are planned.
