To Nizuni or Roka, would be a question of the weight of your wallet ;) in my opinion. Great Suchi, and tempura dishes will definitely satisfy not only your appetite but your visual needs ;). Super fast service and great staff, not the most helpful but does their job. Liked the house Sake. They have a small patio with about 4/5 tables, with 2 per table. So if you are one of the "heatblokes" then its an ideal place to sit in summer. Otherwise it might be too hot under the heat. Try to get their before 12:45pm if you want find a seat for lunch, otherwise, just remember to reserve. Beautiful website btw;) Fourth star is for the being Japanese in an env. Lack of good Suchi. Unless you have booked Roka.• • •

I was looking for a nice Japanese restaurant around Oxford circus and came across Nizuni. Upon sitting down we waited about 10 minutes before anyone offered to take our order for drinks. A couple next to us actually sat down, waited 10 minutes too then got up and walked out - it wasn't overly busy either. The food was good but nothing really stood out. Also found it strange that after pouring my own glass of wine most of the night, towards the end one of the waitresses actually took the bottle out of my hand and poured it for me - bit strange. Might be a better stop for lunch than dinner.

Seriously good sushi- the entrance looks quite small but this place goes up floors and there's surprisingly enough room for quite a party. Be sure to book as it does get busy, and if you're not keen on raw fish the noodles and vegetarian side dishes are delicious too. Ideally, go and order a big selection and share about!

Nizuni is consistently good. I've been here for a few mid-week meals and you can always rely on them for great food and good service. The sushi is obviously their speciality, but last time I also tried the fish and some noodle dishes. The cod looked a bit sad without any dressing or anything but their noodles were tasty and the teriyaki Tofu was probably the highlight for me. Drinks wise you can order anything from cocktails, to warm sake to green tea. Service is very quiet and can be slightly slower than average but this place is definitely worth checking out - a local favourite.

Lovely decor! Have been here twice. First time had fried squid with wasabi mayo for starters and for mains chirashi. The chirashi was in a lovely bowl, looked very appetizing and was very good. The fried squid was nice for the first few pieces but very oily and so was rather off putting after the 3rd or 4th morsel, the wasabi mayo was nice though.Second time had a Katsudon. Nice crispy cutlets, good sized portion, lovely presentation.Overall very satisfied though a bit pricey :)

Butter fish was absolutely beautiful, salmon and aubergine skewers were disappointing but overall I had a nice time and it was very reasonably priced

Simple and unassuming exterior but the food is consistently amazing. I usually go for the sake don and a pot of soba cha and I've never been disappointed. The sake don comes with all sorts of extra ingredients like a sweet potato croquette, pickles and tamago (slices of rolled-up omelette). I've also tried the lunch set before and it's quite sizable and worth it. Will definitely keep going back for more!

Very nice Japanese on a happening street. Food was tasty and service invisible! It's worth trying the cocktails.

My girlfriend and I went for lunch here for the 3rd time and it's always been of good quality and value. I got the katsudon whilst she got the sashimi set. The fish was very fresh and full of favour but my katsudon seemed to have too little rice. The meat itself was good though and would still recommend it to others. Service was adequate but nothing special.

My favourite place for Sushi in London. Sashimi is also great there. We ordered a boat of sushi last time and it was great to share. The mochi ice cream sesame / green tea / red bean desert is also not to be missed!

Went to Nizuni looking forward to a lovely meal but was sorely disappointed and left feeling unsatisfied and hungry. I opted for the fried squid with wasabi mayo, initially the started was okay, but being fried it soon turned into a rather boring tasteless starter and I would say overcooked as the squid was too crunchy, I gave up half way through but took this to be a bad choice and looked forward to my main. For the mail I chose the Steak teriyaki at first quite enjoyable until a third of the way in I came across my first fatty piece and had to embarrassingly remove from my mouth, by the forth similar mouthful it was too much to take and I ditched the main course. On the plus side the staff were very nice and it is possible that I chose badly and should have gone for the sushi but needless to say I will not be back.

The food here is truly great and the decor is very pleasing to the eye. Slightly on the expensive side, but well worth it for the quality of the food. The staff seem lovely and attentive, except for one major point. I was left for an unreasonably long time between starter and main course with no explanation. They simply didn't manage my expectations with an explanation, even when I asked. I didn't kick up a fuss and they were accommodating when I did state my concerns at the end of the meal, so they get points back for that.
